Join the ‘Friends of the TT Circuit’
During the Classic GP Assen the ‘Friends of the TT Circuit’ foundation presents itself in the paddock, bringing with them this 1954 Maico road bike. This German piece of engineering has been in former rallycross driver Willem van Dalen’s family for 68 years.
The Maico was delivered to Willem van Dalen Senior in november 1954 by local dealer Henk Tappel at a price of 1.450 Dutch guilders. At eighteen years old Van Dalen Junior got his motorcycle driver’s license riding the Maico. In 1965 it was stored and remained untouched for 50 years. To this day the bike runs and drives in its original state.
The Friends of the TT Circuit foundation was founded in 2008. With their membership over 10.000 people support the goal of promoting the legendary race track and its events.
