Giacomo Agostini returns to the Cathedral

Nobody has won more races and more championships in the FIM Motorcycle Roadrace World Championship than Giacomo Agostini. And he won the Dutch TT 14 times! During the Classic GP Assen the greatest of all time will once again ride his superior MV Agusta 500/3 on the 'Circuit of Drenthe'.

Between 1965 and 1976 'Ago' won no less than 15 world titles and 122 Grand Prix races. The Italian was among the first to attract serious sponsorship money, not just because of his performance, also because of the glamour the handsome young racer exuded. During the sixties Ago dominated in both the 350cc and 500cc categories riding the exotic and superior MV Agusta three- and four-cylinder machines. He fought and beat other great champions like Mike Hailwood and Phil Read and in 1975 he became the first 500cc World Champion for Yamaha and the first to do so on a two-stroke; a technology that was to dominate the world championship for 25 years to come.

The TT Circuit Assen recently released a video celebrating the rider who whon the Dutch TT no less than 14 times.
